    Abstract:

    Purpose - This research intends to study the long-term, sustainable sources of employee’s happiness, the major roadblocks corporates are facing in ensuring a healthy work culture, where employees stay well, happy, enjoy, flourish, raise their level of performance consistently and attain the highest level of their potential. It aims to portray the power of intrinsic motivation, its connection with self-awareness, mind management and mindfulness and how its related with happiness and success.                                                         
    Design/methodology/approach - This study has been conducted by doing an extensive literature review encompassing various research journals, books, websites and speeches.                                                                                                             
    Findings - The research finds that happiness have different levels, duration, dimensions and depend on both external and internal approaches. Mainly the organizations apply external objects, benefits to keep employees on high morale, motivated for better retention and loyalty. But approach is myopic in nature. Transition from materialistic to spiritual thought process can keep the employee laser-focused, happy and productive in the long run. The chemistry of the body-mind-soul need to be realized for keeping the mind elevated, positive and goal oriented.                                                                                                                                                         
    Research limitations and implications - The research has been conducted basis literature reviews. Empirical studies could be done in addition to the reviews of various sources literatures, books, websites etc. Also, only a handful of organizations have been thinking in this line and more business enterprises are beginning to emphasize on the importance of focusing on mind management for employee happiness.                                                                                                                         
    Originality/value - Although many studies have been done on employee happiness, this paper highlights how the focus on mind-body complex has a huge impact on happiness level and how HR departments can apply the findings to elevate the employees’ mind to higher levels of happiness for a longer duration and ensure long-term employee retention. From Human Resources Management perspective, training employees to focus more on the realm of mind will be a key ingredient of strategic thinking initiative.
